Defence meet in New Delhi- A broad evaluation
It is on the 14 th day of the said month, a defence meet is
being organised in Indian capital city, New Delhi. The
organiser of this meet is United Nations Troop Contributing
Countries (UNTCC), will be held in the Indian capital from
14.10 to 16.10. The focal theme of the meet is to accelerate
peace keeping operations and leveraging indigenous
technology which ultimately paves the way for TCC to
render much broader space in the UN. The event is
organised by the ministry of Defence under kind courtesy
Indian Army along with other wings of defence like Indian
Airforce and Indian Navy. Now all around the globe, we find
ensuring safety and security of the citizens poses major
worries among the citizens of the globe. In the same
manner defence wings from all participating nations are
participating in these two days seminar.
United Nation Troop Contributing Conclave is a
confederation of fifteen nations, such as Algeria, Armenia,
Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, Burundi, Cambodia, Cote
d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Fiji, France, Ghana, Indonesia, Italy and
various other reputed nations of the globe. Though I have
been able to state the names of 15 nations on the basis of
Data availability. Basically, there are in all 30 nations
involved in this confederation. Due to lack of availability of
full Data, I am unable to state the names of all 30 nations.
Now let me evaluate the purpose of staging this meet. The
focal point pertaining to this meet is exploration and
implementation of power, precision and protection of
disruptive technologies. It is strategically aimed at securing
and enhancing India’s defence capabilities. This conclave or
meeting will definitely act as a unique opportunity for the
defence industry to assess the potentially emerging
technological advancements.
While touching about the holding of this meet, we find that
it is deeply relevant as per the current global situations we
observe. There is various logic behind holding this UNTCC
meet in New Delhi from 14 th to 16 th day of the said month.
Among all the logic known to us, some of the common ones
are stated as follow:
1) Acceleration of military modernization-It is already
known to us that India and NATO nations like other
nations of the globe have agreed to dedicate the year
2025 to be the year of defence reforms which is chiefly
focussed upon advanced technology and operational
integration. The key logic is to create a technologically
superior and combat ready force which has the
capability to handle any threats which might
destabilise growth processes of the 21 st century.
2) Leading contributor-India is one of the largest and
consistent pertaining to UN peace keeping forces of the
globe. India uses her convincing power in order to
ensure forum for discussions by troop contributing
nations.
3) Shared concerns and visibility—India is deeply
concerned about prevalent political stalemate in
Bangladesh and Pakistan. Though Sri Lanka and Nepal
landed up into severe and heinous political cum social
turmoil but was wiped off due to astute political and
diplomatic prowess of neighbouring India. It was due
to meticulous planning by India; things turned towards
normalcy. India might be in a turmoil, as the
democratic and political governance is in command,
hence things are in firm control in comparison to other
nations of the globe. India being a most powerful force
around the globe, under Narendra Modi as Prime
Minister. India despite being in the midst of severe
political pejorative mental framework, still managing
the entire episode in deep grit and gumption.
4) Enhancing cooperation and interoperability-The
conclave welcomes the opportunity by the defence
personnel to welcome subdued nation, to initiate
dialogue, common understanding and finally broader
cooperation.
5) Leveraging technology for peacekeeping purpose- The
agenda also includes interactions among member
nations on how to utilize indigenous technology. Also
innovative ideas are welcomed to initiate peaceful
peace keeping exercise whose objective is to make the
innovation of new technology more cost effective
which heralds our preparation for the country’s future
course of action.
6) Strengthening the voice of Troop Contributing
countries.
During then three days meet in New Delhi, from October
14 to October 16, all member nations will emphasize
about fullest Troop Contributing Countries to be given
fullest participation. It is already known to us that among
all the member nations of UNTCC, India and Bangladesh
play prolific roles in ushering peace and stability not only
around the South Asian Sub-Continent, but also across
the globe.
The UNTCC meet which is being held in New Delhi from
October 14 to October 16, stands quite significant in
perspective to current political turmoil in Bangladesh and
Pakistan. I being an Indian national by birth, always
cherish the feeling that current stalemate in both
Bangladesh and Pakistan, is no doubt a matter of great
concern for India. Though the civil societies of India are
mostly worried about Bangladeshi issue. Not only in
Indian city of Kolkata, but even in the capital city of New
Delhi, the civil societies are deeply concerned about
current stalemate prevailing in Bangladesh. Pakistan no
doubt has problems just like Nepal. But the situation in
Bangladesh has badly marred the peace and stability in
South Asian Sub-Continent.
The upcoming UNTCC meet in New Delhi is just a routine
meet organised by UNO, in support by Government of
India, but in the midst of presence of all thirty members,
the issue of current Bangladeshi turmoil will definitely be
given preference. The reason behind is logical, which we
cannot deny from the core of our mind and heart. During
the three days international meet in New Delhi will no
doubt be a successful and glaring one. As the venue for
the meet is not available in my Data bank, hence could
not state so. Apart from safety and security of the region,
there are various other issues which are likely to be taken
up by the participants.
The relevant issues of common importance which are
likely to be taken up by the participants are stated as
follow:
Enhancing peace process and cooperation.
Leveraging technology in ensuring peace process.
Safety and security in ensuring peace and tranquillity.
Institutional and structural reforms as per peace
processes are concerned.
In this regard, India has to contribute greatly towards
installation of peace across the globe as well as that of
South Asian Sub-Continent. That I will analyse in
subsequent column. Wha, one p is required at present is
that peace and development from macro aspects are
required at present. Otherwise, entire global
manoeuvring may be severely jolted. India’s defence
expenses are estimated to be around Rs 6.81 crore as
against Bangladesh’s defence expenditure is estimated to
be approximately 40,851 crore BDT (which is equivalent
to $ 3.34 billion).
Judging by my above discourses, one point becomes
crystal clear in my mind that defence expenditures in
both nations are quite expensive, which needs to be
seriously taken care of. Along with the expenses issue,
another important aspect to be noted is that as both
India and Bangladesh are regular participants like other
nations of the globe. Hence it is pertinent on the part of
both nations, to upgrade the defence wings in such a
manner which should not in any case destabilize the
peace processes of the globe. In this regard, Bangladesh
Army needs to pull up her socks to a greater extent,
which cannot be denied at all from the core of our heart
and mind.
Though huge amounts of money are being incurred upon
defence aspects of both nations, but economic
development touching upon social, political and cultural
aspects should not be neglected at all. This is no doubt
vital point to be noted by both nations. If macro
development in both nations, then both might land up
into utterly dire straits of affairs. This phenomenon might
badly retard the development process in and around
South Asian Sub-Continent.
