Nepal episode- A stigma in South Asian politics like Bangladesh:

Couple of days we witness a heinous stigma in political parlance of Nepal, a South Asian especially a Hindu Kingdom like another South Asian neighbour Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. It is no doubt a worrisome phenomenon not for the civil societies of Nepal, but also among that of India and Bangladesh. If we retrace back the political situations around ten to twenty years, we now feel a stark contrast. Now I have to interpret the reasons for this kind of political scar taking place in South Asian Sub-Continent.

South Asian Sub-Continent is a continent of eight nations. It is a resourceful Sub-Continent, but if there is no political and economic stability, then how do we expect macro stability to accelerate. My analysis will no doubt be deep rooted. Hence in the subsequent paragraphs it is my humble to delve more into intricacies of my thoughts.

As I have already stated in the beginning, that the political situations of the globe, took a sharp turn of events. The repercussions opine that it might be for the betterment or else it might take a vicious turn. But still I feel that younger generations should not be axed from our mainstream of life. If the modern generations are not accorded the basic amenities in life, then our administrators will no doubt cast severe blows in our democratic setup.

Now if we touch upon the current stigma in recent Nepal episode, then our mind might be full of bewilderment. Still, we must aim to delve deeply the reasons behind it. This is because the stigma of Nepal will have indelible impact upon neighbouring India.

There might be multiple reasons behind recent Nepalese political stigma, among all the key areas are stated as follow:

Huge outpouring of US and Chinese money.

Unrest among students of Nepal.

Younger generations are not looked up in its positive framework.

Gross unemployment.

Political governance is not properly focussed on basic goals.

Neighbouring India has been extremely knavish upon Nepal.

Poverty is the much talked about issue in Nepal.

Lack of sustainable democratic norms.

Despite massive and endemic poverty, the role of all defence forces is sound.

Leadership pattern is more people centric.

The recent Nepalese political and social stigma has close relations with Bangladesh stigma. Only difference between the two is that Nepal has been tackled amicably between different student groups. That is the reason the way impact of political and social stigma has been eased so fast. Among the four South Asian nations, Nepal and Sri Lanka stood up bravely despite the grave consequences they faced recently and couple of years respectively, but why not Bangladesh could not recover from the scourge of political coup cum inferno of the year 2024 on August 5. There is no justification in this regard. That means there was no initiative by the interim administrators of Bangladesh. They are adept in making the hapless and innocent citizens of the nation dancing like lollypop. Very shameful proposition. Whereas as per Sri Lankan episode concerned, I find that India looked after that nation carefully and meticulously. The current government of Sri Lanka is deeply concerned about the needs of citizens. Despite problems are galore in Sri Lanka, but I would interpret in this manner, that the nation has bounced back. The way Rajapakshe brothers fled to overseas destinations plus recent arrest of Ranil Wickramasinghe acts as an able pointer the way the lost nation from going down the debris to a state of stability from macro viewpoints.

Nepal basically is a small Himalayan Kingdom with a population of around 3 crores population. As already highlighted it is located close to West Bengal, Bihar and parts of Uttar Pradesh. Most of the Nepalese nationals are based in India, especially in cities like Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai etc. The economy of the nation is purely dependant upon tourism, natural resources, human capital (inclusive of infrastructure and financial investments), technology along with trade and commerce. It is estimated to be around 8 million Nepalese citizens based in India, plus in rest of the globe.

It is for quite a long period of time; I feel that the common citizens of Nepal are deeply aggrieved about the pattern of governance prevailed in that nation. India has been fully responsible for the recent political stigma in Nepal along with other nations like China and US. Though the government of Mrs Karki is a temporary phase fresh elections will be convened in March 2026.

At the present the key tasks which is lying in front of Karki government in Nepal are multifarious in nature. Among all some of the common ones are stated as follow:

Development of political and social governance.

Development of law-and-order situation.

Economic development.

Ensuring international support, especially from neighbouring India along with China.

Ensuring unity among all citizens of the nation.

Pity part to be noted is that Bangladesh till date has not attained political and economic stability. It is a shameful act on the part of current interim administrators of the nation. Bangladesh is talking about unity in reformation the commission of which is still going on under Professor Ali Riaz. I feel the approaches and directives in Bangladesh is not being carried in its proper perspectives. Contrarily the approach by Nepal has been a positive stance which Bangladesh should take lessons from the former. Despite the euphoria generated, problems in Nepal are still a galore. I feel Bangladesh will regain stability soon with the impact of lesson from Nepal. In this regard, I feel that along with China and Russia, India needs to play proactive role to rejuvenate Bangladesh. From a state of devastation to a state of prosperity.

Summation of my views, one point needs to be badly stressed upon is that powerful global forces (which my readers are well aware of), should exercise restraint in not to exercise too much of dominance upon South Asian conglomerates. India is also not in a happy state of affairs. But due to strategic strength of India, we might not be in a position to have our pristine glory being covered under the debris.
